Project Case Study - 2021

REd Ventures | Internal Events (2021-2023)

HOW MIGHT WE

Create event branding under the Red Ventures brand that fits in with RV's culture and values, and follows RV's brand guidelines, while also remaining individually unique.

The Projects

I joined Red Ventures' Corporate Communications team in 2021 and quickly became the owner RV's internal event branding. Corporate Communications (or Corp Comm) is RV's company culture team. They run everything from Quarterly company-wide meetings, to internal email newsletters.

As the sole Graphic Designer on the Corp Comm team, I create event branding that falls under the umbrella of Red Venture's brand guidelines, but all feel unique and have a sense of individuality.

RV All Employee Meetings

RV's All Employee Meetings are regular internal events where each part of the business gives an update on what they've been doing that quarter, as well as an appearance by RV's CEO, Ric Elias. Typically each AEM features a guest speaker and a collection of fun video content created by the Corp Comm team to inform employees about a topic, or just to convey a moment that showcases RV's company culture.

A diagram of the All Employee Meeting logo design

The logo is made up of a venn diagram that represents different parts of the company coming together for one meeting / event. Red Ventures is made up of a portfolio of different brands including Media & Commerce, Financial Services, Travel, etc. Including brands such as CNET, Lonely Planet, and Bankrate - so the RV All Employee meeting is a collection of people who are made up of different businesses, in different locations, all coming together to get an update on the business as a whole.

The colors of the logo are made up of the 3 base RV brand colors, but also represent the different colors present in many of the brands across the portfolio, all of which are present at these meetings (CNET red, TPG green, MyMove yellow, etc).

I chose the venn diagram as the symbol of the meeting also because of the fact that these types of diagrams are always present in each brand's presentation in the meeting. This is an opportunity to showcase the stats of each business during the quarter, as well as a fun gathering where you can socialize with coworkers you don't often see. It's an overlapping of the many businesses, and corporate departments within RV.

The logo also ends up being very versatile for comms regarding the event. A task I'm often given is for digital signage that shows on TVs across campus. When an event is coming soon we often try to get a few different signs in the rotation that showcase features of the event, such as happy hours, guest speakers, or even a full run of show.

AEM branded stage decor

The branding is used on stage with accompanying animations and stage wash. The AEM branding has become familiar across RV - with several meetings using the new branding since 2022.

Part of my work also included support for the Corp Comm video editing / production team. I offered support with Animated transitions / logo bumpers, and branded segments.

RV AEM MAX (December 2022)

The All Employee Meeting MAX became a way to break away from the regular AEM meetings to create a twice-a-year larger AEM that is a half day with much more content and a happy hour/gathering at the end.

The MAX meetings have a different look and feel than the regular AEM's and in it's two past iterations has changed to fit the theme of the event.

The MAX look and feel has changed between events, but the MAX color palette remains the same, as well as the base MAX logo.

The December '22 AEM MAX branding centered around chalk and chalkboard elements to callback to RV's belief statements wall which has a handwritten quality. This MAX's theme was RV Beliefs, so each of the 7 RV belief statements were on display during the event, and the video content was based on these beliefs as well.

RV Belief statements

The December MAX event backdrop was created using elements from the RV belief statement illustrations (drawn by Dominique Prescott).

These are a few examples of some of the graphics created for the MAX - from digital signage to technical slides.

I also designed a physical installation for the event that allowed employees to add goals for the year to our chalkboard "woodpile" based on one of the RV belief statements. The installation was featured in a portion of the video content for the event.

As with the regular AEM meetings, I also offered support to the video production team on the AEM MAX. I created animated transitions, logo animations, and bumpers for the regular segments throughout the event. As well as lower third graphics that featured the video subjects' name and title.

RV Summer / Winter AEMs

All Employee Meetings have been held quarterly since 2023, but during the June and December AEM's I decided to give their branding a summer and winter aesthetic.
